The Mayo Hotel is a historic landmark, listed in the National Register of Historic Places. While The Mayo has not operated as a hotel since the early 1980s, her doors are open for special events. Celebrated novelist Elmore Leonard appeared in the Grand Lobby of The Mayo on Thursday, 12 May 2005 at 7:00 PM to read some selected passages from his new novel, The Hot Kid, read fan mail and comment on his 10 Rules of Writing. His reading was followed by an autograph session. Books were available for purchase and signing at the event.

The Mayo Hotel Tulsa Museum and Store
The Mayo Museum Staff offers tour and lecture presentation services and has a number of selected artifacts and items relating to the history of the Mayo Hotel from the time it was built in 1925 to when it closed its doors as a hotel in early 1980s. Some items are available for sale at The Mayo Museum Store.
